WWOOF’s goal
is to provide individuals from all around the world the opportunity to:
- gain hands-on experience in organic farming and gardening
- explore rural life in Sweden while being part of the daily rhythm of the farm
- support the organic and sustainability movement
- engage in meaningful cultural exchange
What sets WWOOF Sweden apart from many other volunteer platforms is the level of care and support we provide. Every host is verified by a WWOOF Sweden Coordinator or board member, and all active members are covered by personal accident insurance during any confirmed WWOOF stay, included in the membership fee. While this does not replace health, travel, or liability insurance, it adds an extra layer of safety and reassurance, helping create a secure and positive experience for everyone involved.
WWOOF Sweden is a member-based, non-profit association governed by its members. Our work is guided by our official statutes, and we share an annual report to keep our community informed about our activities and impact.
The founding idea of WWOOF
is to encourage sustainable living and organic agriculture by creating opportunities for people to live and learn together in harmony with nature. WWOOF helps people discover where food comes from and how it can be produced responsibly. It brings together like-minded individuals who value ecological awareness, cooperation, and global solidarity.

Since 2004, WWOOF Sweden has helped build connections between organic farms and volunteers. By participating in WWOOF, you support local farms while learning valuable skills and experiencing a slower, more sustainable way of life. WWOOF is a worldwide community
Founded in 1971 in the UK, WWOOF is one of the first educational and cultural exchange movements rooted in organic farming. Today, WWOOF exists in over 130 countries, each with their own local organization and unique opportunities.
